Us

Who Are We?

Both Feet was co-founded by Stephanie Morgan, Adam Stadius and Laura Lindsay (Associate) in December 2016.

The team met several years ago whilst training with Scott Williams (The Impulse Company) where our shared passion for the Meisner technique united us.

Now, using Meisner’s technique as a foundation to all of our teaching, we draw upon our backgrounds as teachers, facilitators, actors, writers and directors to teach our interpretation of this world-renowned technique, combining our individual teaching styles with a plethora of powerful tools to create truthful, authentic, confident actors right here on our doorstep.

Stephanie Morgan (Upsall) - @SUpsallMorgan
Company Manager

Steph is a practitioner with over 15 years’ professional experience in the performing arts. Since 2005, she has worked in theatres across the country as a performer, Venue Technician, Stage Manager, Assistant Director and Director. Most recently, she taught Acting to Undergraduates and Masters’ students at ALRA Drama School & has been a guest practitioner and lecturer at Leeds Conservatoire.

Steph trained in the Meisner Technique under Scott Williams (The Impulse Company) and Keith Farquhar (Moment to Moment) and has been teaching her version for several years. Prior to Both Feet, Steph was the Managing Director of West Yorkshire Theatre Network (2009-2016), which offered performance and networking opportunities, rehearsal space and training courses from internationally renowned artists for thousands of actors across the region.

Steph is also a certified mBIT (multiple Brain Integration Techniques) Coach and has completed her Diploma and Practitioners course in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) - training which she integrates into her teaching with Both Feet to fuel her passion for creating healthy and happy actors. See her Free Writing for New Pathways programme - changing negative thought patterns to positive ones.
Recent credits include: Unscripted LIVE (Director), Both Feet LIVE 2 (Director), Both Feet LIVE 1 (Director), A Present for a Good Girl short film (Director); R&D for Sam Brady's next piece at The Lowry (Director); pieces for ADP's Scripts Aloud evenings (Director); Laura Wade's Colder Than Here (Director); Sue Townsend's Ten Tiny Fingers, Nine Tiny Toes (Director); Black Toffee’s Parallel (Assistant Director & stand-in Actor).
Steph says:

"I discovered (and fell in love with) The Meisner Technique at the same time as training in Neuro Linguistic Programming which fuelled my fascination of people and their behaviour. What draws me to this teaching practice is that its not about delving into your past in order to connect with your character, it's about taking your attention away from you and your inner critic and putting it elsewhere. It's genius yet simple. The fabulous teacher Scott Williams will always be held in my heart for introducing me and training me in this work. I hope you join us to explore, every actor should."

Adam Stadius - @AdamStadius

Adam Stadius is an acting coach currently based between Leeds, London and the North-East of England. Adam trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama (MA - with distinction) and has since held teaching posts at college and university levels across the country including the BRIT School of Performing Arts and SLP College.

Most recently, Adam has developed and launched the brand new Musical Theatre degree course in his role as Programme Leader for Leeds Conservatoire (previously Leeds College of Music), one of the UK’s leading multidisciplinary conservatoires.

As a teacher and practitioner of the Meisner Technique, Adam has instructed professional actors, students and graduates of accredited schools including Arts Ed, LAMDA, Mountview, Arden, GSA, RADA, London Studio Centre, and the London School of Musical Theatre.
As a specialist in both Musical Theatre and the Meisner Technique, Adam is developing his research into the application of Meisner within song. Get in touch for more information.

Recent coaching and directing work includes: Black Toffee’s Parallel & Theatre Royal Newcastle’s Project A.

Adam says:
"'I found the Meisner Technique at the perfect time for me as both an actor and a teacher. My Drama school training had put me in to my head as an actor and left me feeling confused about what I should be doing, how to approach my work and actually how to be truthful and authentic within the moment. Working with Scott Williams gave me an incredible grounding in the work and ignited a huge passion for this technique, in exploring the work I've managed to work with some great teachers both in the UK and in New York in Stephen Agosto (Neighbourhood Playhouse alumni) and Rick Sordelet (Yale School of Drama/William Esper Studio Alumni) all of whom have shaped the way I work and train actors. I genuinely see more truthful work in a Meisner based class than on most stages and screens and I can't wait to share the work with others."

“The Meisner Technique has enabled me to get ‘out of my head’. What I love about the technique is that it is addresses the actor’s trap of self-consciousness. It is freeing, improves responsiveness, spontaneity, emotional availability and increases acting range. It has made me a more confident and flexible actor. I am really keen to share these discoveries, through teaching and directing. As a jobbing actor I know the importance of being able to apply and adapt a technique to the demands of different media and different modes of working.”
